FedEx distribution facility coming to Lexington County

Posted

FedEx Ground is set to bring a 350,000-square-foot distribution facility to Lexington.

Wilson Kibler Commercial Real Estate, which represented the owners of the property at 2120 Two Notch Rd. in the $4.58 million sale, announced the news in a press release.

“Scannell Properties, a privately owned real estate development and investment company, purchased the ±80-acre site with plans to build a ±350,000-square-foot facility,” the release states. “Construction of the facility, which is set to include ample trailer parking, is expected in Q1 of 2023.”

Employment estimates for the new facility weren’t immediately available.

"We are extremely excited about FedEx coming to the county of Lexington right outside of town limits," Lexington Mayor Steve MacDougall told the Chronicle. "We know that some of our residents will be employees there and look forward to the opportunity to work with them, making Lexington bigger, better and brighter."

The site for the in-progress facility was previously undeveloped and sits just outside the Lexington town limits near Interstate 20 across the street from Pascon waste management and about a mile and a half from the Michelin tire plant that’s also on Two Notch Road.

“It’s always exciting to be part of something that will positively impact the local economy and create new jobs,” George McCutchen, the Wilson Kibler principal who represented the owners in the sale, is quoted. “And it’s a win-win because having access to this new facility will further enable South Carolina businesses to meet the needs of their customers.”
