South Congaree man charged with sex offenses

Accused in Lexington County Detention Center awaiting bond hearing

Michael Dyer, 48, of South Congaree, has been charged with sexual conduct with a minor.

Police Chief Josh Shumpert said Dyer has been charged with 5 counts of criminal sexual conduct 1st degree with a minor under 11 years of age.

He also has been charged with 5 counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor and other offenses.

Chief Shumpert said Dyer was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Friday where he is awaiting a bond hearing.

Chief Shumpert said, “We sincerely hope and pray that the victim and family can begin to heal from this incident.”
