The Root Doctors (concert)

The band, which plays as part of the free weekly Lexington Live series, will play a mix of party favorites and funky originals. Art on State
Head to the 100 block of State Street in West Columbia for the fifth annual Art on State event. There will be live music from bands Whiskey Run and Seventy Six and Sunny, live mural art, local food and a variety of arts and crafts vendors from 5:30 to 9:30pm. Art on State is free to attend. Mason Horne (concert)

Artist Meet and Greet
Join Rob Shaw Framing & Gallery (324 State St. in West Columbia) as they host artists Jamie Blackburn, Michael Geddings, Rob Shaw, and Candace Thiebeault at a reception celebrating the addition of new works to a show that opened on April 1 and is being held over through the end of May. “Dearly Departed” (play)
On Stage Productions presents “Dearly Departed” at the On Stage Performance Center (1119 B Ave.) April 29-May 7. The comedy, written by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones and directed by Jerry Crouch, is about the beleaguered Turpin family, who prove that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Carolina Shout Festival (concert)
The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo) hosts the inaugural Carolina Shout Festival. Organized by jazz bassist Reggie Sullivan, the outdoor event showcases local musical talent including rapper Fat Rat Da Czar, folk-pop duo Prettier Than Matt, brass band Partly Cloudy, and jazz/rock outfit The Reggie Sullivan Band. Riverbanks Run
Join the Riverbanks Zoo (500 Wildlife Pkwy. in Columbia) for a wild 5K race that benefits wildlife conservation. The Riverbanks Run, presented by Dominion Energy and Strictly Running, will wind through the park’s scenic back roads, cross the Saluda River, and pass some of the most popular exhibits in the Zoo. Registration is required, and the entry fees are $35 for Riverbanks members and $45 for the general public. Proceeds support ongoing conservation and education efforts at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Lexington Wine Walk
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 West Main St.) and the Lexington Beautification Foundation host the 11th Annual Lexington Wine Walk. The event will feature unlimited wine tastings and food for purchase. Attendees will receive a souvenir wine glass and enjoy music from Going Commando. Rhythm On The River (concert)
Head to the West Columbia Riverwalk Park and Amphitheater (109 Alexander Rd.) for the Rhythm On The River concert series. Nephron Pharmaceuticals and the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 West Main St.) present Whiskey Run, a four-piece country band based in Augusta, Ga., as part of the Town of Lexington’s ongoing free Lexington Live series. SC Poultry Festival
The South Carolina Poultry Festival begins today on Main Street in Batesburg-Leesville, and continues through May 14. The first day of the festival is one-price ride night starting at 5 p.m., and there will be a variety of food vendors and craft booths along with games and rides. Across the County Line

Roses and Rosé
The Columbia Museum of Art (1515 Main St. in Columbia) hosts Roses and Rosé on May 6. Take a flora-focused tour of art through the galleries and Art Blossoms arrangements. Along the way, learn about the significance of various types of flowers across time periods and cultures. Then enjoy wine expertly paired with Art Blossoms arrangements. Taste of Newberry
Head to downtown Newberry from 5 to 9 p.m. on May 6 for the annual Taste Of Newberry festival. This event will feature samples of food, beer and wine, along with full meals from many local restaurants throughout the county. There will also be live jazz music. Rosewood Crawfish Festival
Head to the SC State Fair Grounds (1200 Rosewood Dr. in Columbia) on May 7 starting at 11 a.0.m for the annual Rosewood Crawfish Festival. In addition to a wide variety of crawfish from various food vendors, there will be arts and crafts, live music (headlined by Cowboy Mouth), a 5K run and much more. Erykah Badu & Friends (concert)
Erykah Badu & Friends perform at the Colonial Life Arena (801 Lincoln St. in Columbia) on May 8.
