1 dead after South Lake Drive collision

On Oct. 19 at 9:20 a.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred leaving one dead in the 2300 block of South Lake Drive in the Lexington area. 

 Virginia Ellen Burtle, 46, of Pelion was identified as the deceased. Burtle was traveling westbound on South Lake Drive and another car headed eastbound collided head-on.   

Burtle was wearing her seatbelt according to the press release and was transported to a hospital. There, due to her injuries, Burtle was pronounced dead. 

 The two other individuals in Burtle’s car were transported to the hospital with injuries. The driver of the other car also had injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
