PLAYER OF THE YEAR - WILL TAYLOR (DUTCH FORK)

The 2-sport Clemson University signee, 2020 Lexington Chronicle Football Player of the Year and Major League Baseball prospect (A recent ESPN mock draft has Taylor selected 20th overall by the New York Yankees), Taylor was named the SC Baseball Coaches Association’s Co-Player of the Year for all classifications. He batted .429 with 34 runs, 30 RBI, 7 home runs with 22 walks and 19 stolen bases in leading the Silver Foxes to the Region 5-5A title and Class 5A Lower State final. PHOTO | WWW.GOFLASHWIN.COM

COACH OF THE YEAR - ASHLEY BURNETT (GILBERT)

The longtime Indians’ head coach led them to a 24-8 overall record and the Class 3A title. It was the 4th state title won at the state for Burnett, whose also a member of the 500-victory club. He was presented a commemorative state championship bat by Lexington County Blowfish co-owner Bill Shanahan on June 9 on a day the team was recognized at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
