This Saturday, January 18, at the Red Bank Equine Complex (the horse side of the Red Bank Arena park on Nazareth Road) there will be a Country Springs 4-H Schooling Show; onlookers are welcome. The show starts at 9 am with multiple divisions scheduled throughout the day from beginners on up. If you’d like to show, registration opens at 8 am; pre-registration should go to aallison2x@gmail.com .

Registration for the Lexington District One Immersion program for 5K students in 2020-2021 is only a month away. Parents should learn about the program’s benefits. As a parent of two students who have gone through it all the way to high school, I can’t recommend it enough as a challenge for good students and a long-term benefit in the form of a second language.

So what is it? At the most basic, beginning in 5K, students receive language and literacy, science and math instruction in a world language, with other subject areas taught in English. The immersive nature of this means they learn the language as they are covering other subjects, not just as a language course, and their vocabulary and grammar knowledge increases every year they’re in the program. Online registration begins February 18. See the district website for more information on the registration process.

Happy Birthday to Connie Sherman, Abigail Franks, Charlie Clamp, Melanie Taylor, Logan Taylor, Keith Busbee, Charlie Bedenbaugh, Walter Moore, Pat Miller, Tatiana Busby, Rob Liljegren, Emily Oliver, Freddie Newsome, and Larry Jumper, Dana Elliott, Brenda Loftis, B.J. Atkinson, Jimmy Gooding.
