HONORING VETERANS

The 2018 Coastal Plain League ‘“All-Star Show” is scheduled for July 8-9 at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

The list of 56 players selected for the National and American All-Star teams by the league’s 16 head baseball coaches is scheduled for a Friday release.

In addition, fans can participate in the Final Fan Vote where they can select two players from a list of 12 players for an All-Star spot. As the host team, the Lexington County Blowfish are hoping to be well-represented at the 19th edition of the All-Star contest. Among potential Blowfish candidates:

1B Carson ‘Mac’ McCurdy - The White Knoll High School graduate leads the team in RBI (12) and doubles (5) and second in hits

(14).

SS Connor Tate - The University of Georgia product leads the team in hits (20), batting average (.400) and slugging percentage (.580) and second in RBI (9) and doubles (4).

OF Chaney Rogers - The Georgia product is second in runs scored (14) and walks (11).

P Noah Hinzman - The Erskine College junior leads the team in victories (2) and strikeouts

(20).

P Jacob Rye - The Gilbert product leads the team in ERA

(2.61) and is second in strikeouts

(14).

The Blowfish will honor military veterans of all foreign conflicts since World War II this Tuesday at the High Point-Thomasville game.

Veterans who attend will receive:

•2 complimentary admission passes and reserved seating for the ball game.

•Reserved use of the ball park’s private air-conditioned banquet area for veterans and their guests beginning at 6 p.m. with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, beverages and dessert.

•An opportunity for veterans to participate in a pre-game ceremony on the field during the pledge of allegiance, a fallen comrade (POW/MIA) presentation, Taps, the national anthem and ceremonial first pitch.

•A complimentary electronic subscripition to the Lexington County Chronicle and the Lake Murray Fish Wrapper, the official newspaper of the Lexington County Blowfish.
