Two of the Midlands’ most recognizable celebrities will help present the Shamrock Parade Saturday.

Radio personality Jonathon Rush will be the grand marshal of the Lexington County Blowfish Shamrock Parade. Joe Pinner will serve as master of ceremonies.

Bill Shanahan, co-owner of the Lexington County Blowfish, made the announcement at the March Blowfish luncheon last Wednesday.

The parade is scheduled for Mar. 14 at 2:00 pm on Main Street in Lexington.

This year’s parade will be bigger than ever with approximately 80 floats and vehicles of all kinds. There will also be plenty of familyand kid-friendly activities during and after the parade.

Unlike some St. Patrick’s Day festivals that focus on alcohol consumption and wild partying, the Lexington Shamrock Parade is family oriented and a way to honor St. Patrick for spreading Christianity in Ireland.

The event, which is a joint effort sponsored by the Lexington County Blowfish in cooperation with the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, is in it’s 4th year.
