The Rotary Club of Five Points recently assisted the Pelion High School basketball players with strategies and tactics to help them become more successful.
Rotarians assisted the players in many areas of self-esteem from taking the ACT test, etiquette, the importance of faith-based sports, to the use of sports in furthering their education.
Under the guidance of their coach, Five Points Rotarian Brian Szumilas, the team spent time reading to Pelion Elementary School students as well as participating in a free basketball camp for elementary school students.
The Rotary Club of Five Points gifted the players with jackets, shirts and ties. The Panthers culminated the event by introducing themselves and giving a short talk on the value of the program at a lunch program at the Rotary Club of Five Points.
The Five Points Rotary Club meets on Fridays at 1:00 at Segra Park. One of its main focuses is on the education and welfare of children.
