Brookland-Cayce, Irmo boys and Gilbert girls crack Top 10 of S.C. Basketball Coaches Association Poll

While the Lexington and Gray Collegiate boys remain atop its respective classifications, three Chronicle Country teams crack the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association rankings for the first time.

The Irmo boys are ranked ninth in the Class 4A poll after a 3-1 start. In Class 3A, the undefeated Brookland-Cayce boys and the 4-1 Gilbert girls are sixth and 10th, respectively.

Both Class 2A second-ranked Gray Collegiate and Class 5A fifth-ranked Lexington remain in their same spots. The Lady Wildcats play host to sixth ranked Sumter at 6:30 p.m. Dec 7 in a rematch of last year’s Class 5A Lower State third-round matchup won by the Lady Gamecocks.

S: Dazejah Lanham scored 12 points and Patience Riley and Iyanna Butler each had 10 points to lead the Lady Tigers to their first win of the season.

The two teams meet against Dec. 12 in North.
