What if one simple action could save your life?

Most of us enter our vehicle several times a day to go to work, take the kids to school, pick up dinner, run errands and more.

But, how many of us actually click it? Click our seat belt, that is.

The simple act of buckling up can save lives in the event of a collision. Yet, some citizens still forgo their seat belts. Not only is it against the law to not wear it, it’s also just not smart.

Reports show 92% of South Carolinians use seat belts since the seat belt law went into effect in 2005.

Under the law, an officer can pull you over if anyone in your vehicle appears to not be wearing a seat belt. It’s a primary enforcement offense, and you face a $25-50 fine.

Wearing your seat belt and ensuring children are buckled into age and size-appropriate restraint seats could reduce serious bodily harm and death in a car accident by half.

You can do your part to ensure you and your family aren’t another statistic.

Lexington County traffic deputies schedule special patrols every

week in response to complaints and on high-profile streets. They check for speeders, drunk and dangerous drivers, and seat belt violators.

Don’t buckle up just to avoid a ticket—our friends’ and families’ lives in Lexington County are more important than that.

Seat belts save more than 13,000 lives every year. One of them could be yours.

Day and night, front seat and back, click it or ticket, because it just makes sense.
