Cayce announces details for 2023 Soiree on State

Posted

Cayce’s signature event will be back in March with a familiar name topping the musical lineup.

Soiree on State, the city’s annual spring block party, returns March 25, with Tokyo Joe, the Columbia area’s perennial bar/cover band favorite, serving as the headliner.

The festival returns to its familiar imprint, from Poplar Street to Railroad Street along State Street in the city's River Arts District. By the time of the even, the area will have a new mural to join its already vibrant assemblage of public art, as Michael Geddings is currently completing a new piece on the side of Piecewise Coffee.

A release from the city notes that the festival, which will run from 2 to 8 p.m., will also incorporate the Cayce Festival of the Arts through a partnership with the Avenues Neighborhood Association.

The release says this partnership will bring “artists, a free kid’s area with inflatable obstacle courses, face painting and a balloon artist, food vendors, a variety of musicians and fun all afternoon long.”

The main musical stage will feature another fixture of local bar and brewery stages in Prettier Than Matt, while Mitchell Lee will serve as the opener.

Away from the main stage, the Sam Edwards Jazz Trio will perform all day in the city’s Art Lot.

Free parking for the pet-friendly event will be available just down the street at Brookland-Cayce High School, from which guests can walk or take a free golf cart ride to the event.

Soiree on State music lineup

2-8 p.m. – Sam Edwards Jazz Trio in the City’s Art Lot
3 p.m. – Mitchell Lee
4:30 p.m. – Prettier Than Matt
6-8 p.m. – Tokyo Joe
