Cayce Police seek teenage runaway last seen May 30

Update: Evelyn Hernandez-Doblado is now "home and unharmed," Cayce Police announced in a release issued a little after 11 a.m. June 6.

 “Regardless of age or situation, when a minor does not return home for any reason, it is a top priority of our Cayce Law Enforcement to follow up on every lead, utilize every resource and work around the clock to protect our young people," Cayce Police Chief Chris Cowan is quoted. "As a department, we are all thankful that Evelyn is safe. As a Chief, I am also thankful for the dedication and the diligence of our Cayce officers that worked to ensure her safe return.”


Cayce Police are seeking help looking for a lost teenager they are now calling a runaway.

The department first asked for assistance locating Evelyn Hernandez-Doblado, 16, late the afternoon of Friday, June 2, explaining in a release that the Brookland-Cayce High student was last seen at school May 30.

“She did not return home from school that day, but she did contact her mother at 9:30 p.m. that evening,” the release states. “Her family has not seen her since that time.”

Cayce Police issued a second release June 5 saying that Hernandez-Doblado, who was not initially considered a runaway, is considered such now.

“[She] has been in contact with a mutual acquaintance of Evelyn’s, and her mother, who confirmed Evelyn is still in the Midlands area and that she was not in any harm,” the release states.

“Cayce investigators will continue to follow-up on all leads and are working diligently to return Evelyn to her family.”

Hernandez-Doblado has dark hair and brown eyes and is about 4’9” and 110 lbs.
