Hot shooting from Jaylen Jenkins and B.J. Etheridge powered ninth-ranked Brookland-Cayce to a 52-34 win over Camden at home.

It was the Showcase game to open the Cayce Roundball Classic.

Jenkins finished with 19 points, scoring 12 in the second half, to go with seven rebounds. Etheridge hit four three-pointers in the first half and finished with 12 points.

"We really shot the ball well," Brookland-Cayce head coach Robert Wells said. "That was the difference."

Wells also said the Bearcat defense "stayed in front of guys" and didn't give Camden easy shots.

After falling behind 7-2 to open the game, the Bearcats went on an 11-0 first-half run.

Brookland-Cayce hit 7 three-pointers in the first half and the Bearcats were up by a score of 31-15 at halftime.

Izz Macklin had seven first half points for the Bulldogs. He finished the game with 13 points to lead Camden in scoring.

Camden started the second half with a 13-6 run. The Bulldogs cut BC's lead to 37-28 in the first six minutes of the second half.

The Bearcats responded with a run of their own, with Jenkins scoring from the lane again and again. Brookland-Cayce pushed its lead back up to 15 with 5:44 left in the game.

From there, Brookland-Cayce coasted and ended up running out the clock in the last minute of the game.

The Classic tournament kicked off with two National Bracket games. North Augusta defeated Dreher 66-47 behind 22 points from Elijah Mays and Jordan Rouse added 14 for the Yellow Jackets.

Jordan Barr and Ryan Lominack each had 12 points for the Blue Devils.

The nightap saw Cross Creek edge A.C. Flora 64-62 led by Antoine Lorick with 29 points and 14 rebounds and Quavon Henry with 13.

Cooper Riley led the Falcons with 19 points, followed by Chris Parker with 17 and William Willard with 10.
