Church donations on the rise

Posted

The covid-19 pandemic has brought out the best in people.

Lexington County churches report tithes and offerings are still coming in even during quarantine.

Many churches have seen little drop off in giving from March 1 up to now. Some have even seen an increase in giving and a significant drop in operational expenses like heating, air and janitorial services.

A few churches have seen donations come from nonmembers who tune in to their online worship services.

One church, which is doing a local food give away, has had non-members and strangers bring cash and food. And someone donated a church bus for them. The churches that had already established online giving programs seem to have had little decline in giving. Others have scrambled to make online donation available.

Those that have lost significant donations believe they will pick back up once congregations can return to in-church worship.
