Club elects new officers

Hollow Creek Community Club members held their first meeting of the new year last week. They made plans for new programs and projects for 2020.

Prior to January, HCCC members elected 2020 officers for 2020. Congratulations to President Timmy Koon, Vice Presdient Jimmy Lucas, Secretary Mary Ann Sease, Treasurer Dale Swygert, Tustees Frank Whittle, Phillip Lucas, Jimmy Smith and Rental Chairman Dan Tinman.

HCCC members who had birthdays were recognized. Happy Birthday to Joyce Bolin, Dwight Price, Herbert Long, Jr., Tom Clem-mer, Jettie Derrick, Barbara Mercurio, Ernie Rice, and Margaret Frick.

HCCC members invite you to their meetings the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm at 2701 Priceville Road, Gilbert. For info, call 892-6501.

Law Endorcement Appreciation Day was January 9, so Gilbert Middle School students wore blue or camouflage clothing to school. Gilbert High School students extended appreciation to their School Resource Officer LCSD Joel Cooper.

Gilbert High students recently passed written and skills tests to become SC Certified Nursing and Tech Assistants. Congratulation to Trinity Bedenbaugh, Malory Best, Victoria Bricker, Jadyn Burkett, Madison Derrenbacher, Ashleigh Dorgan, Travis Elliott, Kyleigh Foley, Gracie Howard, Zoe Leaphart, Carriana Long, Kinsly Matthews, Taylor McLain, and Sarah Smith.

First Baptist Church of Gilbert thanks the community for its support of Little Bethlehem in December. This year 4,300 people attended, 2,950 cups of hot chocolate were served, and 294 loaves of Damascus Bread were baked and given out.

Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts first meeting of 2020 will be a Pinewood Derby car build day. Scouts will bring their car kits to the meeting to begin their designs and construction of the cars. Afterward, Scouts will have a hot dog dinner. The annual Pine-wood Derby will be in February. Scouts will soon have their annual Scouting for Food drive to collect canned and nonperishable goods for local pantries.

Lexington Medical Center will conduct a free health screening February 3, 7:30-9:30 am at Beulah United Methodist Church. On site screenings will test blood pressure, fasting Glucose, lipid profile, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and Triglycerides. To schedule an appointment, call Alice Wallace at 892-3161.
