Columbia Metropolitan Airport to offer new inclusive options

Posted

Columbia Metropolitan Airport, also known as CAE, is making travel at the airport more accessible by adding new features to their website to recieve airport information and access content without barriers.

Travelers are now able to customize their experience on the airport's website by using a toolbar that has many different options to help make using the website easier.

Some of these tools include making the page's front size larger, changing background colors, increasing the cursor size, changing the text's language and having the entire page dedicated aloud.

"We're focused on empowering every passenger with the tools and resources need to garner information about a flight, to book a flight and safely and conveniently travel through our airport," CAE President and CEO Mike Gula said in the press release. "We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that ensures all travelers, regardless of their needs, have a seamless experience from garage to gate."

Other accessibility options are avaliable at CAE including the Sunflower Project, which allows travelers with a hidden disability to wear a lanyard to let staff know they might need assistance, and having therapy dogs avaliable at the airport to help travelers in stressful situations.

CAE is currently building a family restroom that will have an adult changing station and a private nursing room for passengers, which is expected to be completed at the end of 2024. A sensory and wellness/meditation room will be added sometime in 2025.
