A popular Midlands taco spot recently announced what will be its third location and second in Lexington County.

Tacos Nayarit, which currently operates a Mexican grill in northeast Columbia, revealed its intentions to open a location in Cayce.

As the restaurant noted in a Facebook post, the location at 1100 Knox Abbott Dr. will be its closest by far to downtown Columbia and the lunch crowd its workforce brings.

“We are excited to announce our next project,” the post states, adding that the goal is to have the location open by spring/summer 2023.

Tacos Nayarit announced an Irmo location in August but hasn’t offered an update on when that outpost at 1720 Lake Murray Blvd. might open.

The restaurant is known for its authentic adobo-style cuisine and has been a popular spot ever since it transitioned from the taco truck it started with in 2007 to its first brick-and-mortar restaurant on Percival Road in Columbia in 2017.

The options on the restaurant’s menu include tacos, quesadillas and taquizas with available meats including pastor, barbacoa, grilled shrimp and chorizo.
