Congaree National Park is a busy spot

The Congaree is getting some attention, but it's not neccessarilly the river.

Congaree National Park is South Carolina’s only National Park. Carolina Outdoor is the outfit that runs the tubes on the river in the sunner. It has put together a Congaree National Park canoe trip package.

“We’re booking a lot of canoe trips,” said Michael Mayo, the founder of Palmetto Outdoor. The trips are available until April 30.

Mayo said the National Park trip season was shut down last spring because of the COVID crisis, but this year he is taking calls from all over the country for those eager to visit South Carolina’s National Park. He also said the weather has been great most of the time. And warm temperatures are predicted for the near future.

“It’s been a very good year so far,” Mayo said. “And I expect it will continue to be based on what we’re seeing.”

He said there are “countless trails and canoe trips available explore just minutes from Riverwalk.”

“If you’d like to join us on one of our guided canoe tours down Cedar Creek, the primary waterway throughout the park, it would be our pleasure to get you on the water,” Mayo said.

Canoe trips are offered seven days a week from 11 a.m.until 2 p.m. and can be booked online at www.palmettooutdoor.com or call 803-404-8254 for more information.
