Departing Springdale Police Chief Kevin Cornett was honored at the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce Breakfast.

It was at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in West Columbia.

Cornett was praised for his professionalism and community involvement by S.C. Rep. Micah Caskey.

As a prosecutor with the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Caskey had worked with Cornett.

State Sen. Katrina Shealy said she is proud of Cornett and welcomed incoming Springdale Police Chief Andrew “Bear” Richbourg.

Cornett was presented with a Legislative Resolution in appreciation for his service to Springdale.

Caskey said he went to Airport High School with the new chief. Caskey said Richbourg has earned a reputation for competence and integrity.

Richbourg said the Spring-dale Police Department is like family to him, and he looks forward to serving town citizens.

Richbourg assumed leadership of the department May 24.

Cornett left the position to become police chief in the Isle of Palms.
