Dinosaurs gone, along with the fair

The state fair has come and gone, but I enjoyed the expensive funnel cakes.  My favorite exhibit was the robotic dinosaur, but I got the Parasaurolophus mixed up with the hadrosaurus. The T-Rex had a large toothy grin the whole time, perhaps it was hungry for the “doughnut hamburger,” which I refused to even try!   

 The weekend of October 26-27 has many events for residents in Irmo and Chapin,

 The 5K run and Walk Lionheart Dash is at Saluda Shoals Park October 27 starting at 7 a.m. The cost is $30 for adults and families and $15 for kids 12 and under. The Lionheart Dash is free. Visit runhard.org/leofor more information.  

 It is not too early to buy your Christmas presents.  The Greater Chapin Chamber’s Shop Local annual holiday 3-day open house will start on November 1 .

Chapin United Methodist Church’s Christmas Bazaar is November 3, 8-1 pm, where you can find decorations, gifts, food and more.

The Third annual Fall Art Festival will be held at the Coffee Shelf, 130 Amicks Ferry Rd. in Chapin Oct 27, 9 am-3 pm.  

If you celebrate Halloween, there are lots of harvest festivals and trunk or treat events to attend.  

Trunk or treat will be held at Irmo Community Park October 27, 5-8 pm. Call 803-781-7050 for information.

The Will ‘O Wisp festival will be held at Saluda Shoals October 27, 4-8 p.m. This Halloween event will feature a wetland preserve, train rides, s’mores, face painting, games, crafts, mega maze and a pumpkin show featuring the amazing animals of Carolina Wildlife. Tickets are limited and need to be purchased in advance at $7 per child, $2 per adult. Visit www.icrc.net to purchase.  

There’s a Zumbathon at Seven Oaks park also October 27, 10 am-noon, to raise money for the ICRC Meals on Wheels. There will be a prize for the best costume.

 The Trick or Treat Trail at Crooked Creek Park is October 26, 6:30-8:30 pm, with carnival games, prizes, costume contest, a scream contest, and a Dad Joke Contest. American Legion will be collecting shampoo, soap, and toilet paper for We Care in Chapin.
