AROUND LEXINGTON COUNTY

Did you know we have a nationally acclaimed dress designer right here in Lexington? She is Minh Le, a native of Vietnam. She lived in Boston before moving to Lexington in 2008 with her two sons. Le was seeking warmer weather and a good place to rear her children.

A milestone for Le was opening her shop several months ago at 403 East Main St, Lexington. It’s called Curated Fashion and Custom Design. Le showcases her creativity through fashions displayed.

A focal point in her shop is a painting made of fabrics that hangs over the work counter. Le likes clothes that are classic, elegant and versatile. She shows her collections in fashion shows in New York, Charlotte, Charleston and Columbia. Some of her fashions were worn to the recent Inaugural Gala in Columbia. Her designs have appeared in magazines such as Vogue, Trend Prive and others. Le says “It’s my dream, my life!”

Robin Bowers, Executive Director at Mission Lexington, thanks all those who made contributions. Because of you “we were able to meet over 28,600 needs in Lexington County in 2018. 17,663 neighbors were fed. 1,002 neighbors were provided financial support in the total amount of $145,013. 1,370 people volunteered over 36,000 hours. $180,638 in clothing and housewares were provided. 383 children chose a backpack filled with their unique classroom needs. 1,479 neighbors were fed through holiday baskets. 857 children received Christmas gifts chosen for them by a parent or guardian.”

Everyone loves a human interest story with a happy ending. One of my friends recently acquired a homeless dog that was living by one of the I-20 exits. She had seen the dog and left food for him daily. Recently, her friend was traveling by and saw the dog just beside the busy traffic. She was able to stop and rescue him, knowing Linda had been feeding the dog. She delivered him to Linda and now “Bubble” has a brand new dog bed and a happy home!

I met a well-groomed, friendly dog when I visited a boutique recently. Shop owner Judy Miller of Irmo told me the dog is a Skye Terrier from the pound and had been headed to her final destination. Pawmetto Lifeline rescued her and then she was adopted by Judy and family. Sassy now welcomes clients in between naps on her new dog bed in the shop. Life doesn’t get any better than that!

Remember Lexington County Choral Society concert, Celebrate Life with The Dick Goodwin Jazz Ensemble, is March 1, 7:30 pm, at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian.

Girl Scout cookies will again be on sale in front of Lowe’s Hardware, 7-9 am, Saturday and 3-5 pm, Sunday.

Congratulations to Luke Clamp, Principal at River Bluff H.S., who was recognized by the SC legislature by being named National Principal of the year!

A special 98th birthday party was held for Murray Price Sunday. His great granddaughter said she was also celebrating, because it was her 3½ birthday!
