The 2021 Super Bowl will provide a little taste of normalcy and some West Columbia restaurants can help.

Super Bowl LV, or 55, will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. on Sunday.

The matchup features the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the NFC vs. the Kansas City Chiefs from the AFC. The Super Bowl kicks off at approximately 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Many West Columbia residents will be enjoying the American tradition that the game represents at their home.

To enhance the experience some local restaurants are encouraging their customers to come by for some Super Bowl takeout food.

Alex Koutrakos is the owner of Grecian Gardens Restaurant at 2312 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia. He said the game is a great reason to pick up food there.

“We have a lot of customers on Sunday,” Alex said, we’ll be glad for them to come by and pick up a few pizzas or any of our other specialties. Leave the food preparation to us.”

Primal Gourmet, at 725 Meeting St., is offering a Gameday Tailgate Special for the Super Bowl.

“We have a smokehouse BBQ glazed rib rack,” said Jennifer Boyd, Primal Gourmet’s general manager. Also included in the Super Bowl Tailgate Special are two dozen traditional Buffalo wings and Primal’s buttermilk ranch with celery sticks. The three sides that come with it range from Primal’s mac and cheese to Superfood slaw.

“We are also offering all of these items for individual purchases beginning Friday.” Jennifer said.

Over on State Street, Mike Lyons at New Brookland Tavern said there will definitely be something different there, on Sunday.

“We are doing a special menu for the Super Bowl,” said Mike. He then described the specials. Items include: hamburgers; hotdogs; corndogs; baked wings; little smokies; macaroni bites; and chips and dip with beer cheese, Buffalo chicken salsa for the Super Bowl menu.

“We know a lot of people want to gather to see the Super Bowl and we are hoping by providing food, drinks and a place where people can sit and watch the game that they’ll feel more comfortable then having friends over to their house,” Mike said.

Cafe Strudel is at 300 State St. Owner Trip Turbyfill is advising Super Bowl revelers to call early.

“We’re doing an in house special,” he said. “We will also take fresh brisket orders to be picked up the day of the Super Bowl.” Trip said wings, a traditional favorite for football fans, are also on the menu.
