Fairy Tale Tea coming up at FPES

Forts Pond Elementary will hold its second annual Fairy Tale Tea for girls May 4. Students will be wearing their favorite party/princess/ fairy tale attire. They will learn about manners and etiquette, with story time, games, and photos.

Legos and Leaders was held April 27 with a Superhero theme. Students were invited to wear their favorite super hero costumes and some very special super heroes showed up.

All Pro Dads held a meeting April 26 in the Learning Commons with the theme – Courageous Upstander. Thanks to all the dads who support the program. All Pro Dads and Mallard Moms will hold a combined breakfast May 24 at 7 in the cafeteria.

The Pelion 12U softball team got to meet players from USC and run out on the field with them over Spring Break. This team is full of 5th, 6th, and 7th graders from Forts Pond and Pelion elementaries, and Pelion Middle Schools. Their coaches are Ashley and Wayne Bruner.

Pelion Middle School had its Spring Fling April 25, completely planned and produced by 6th graders. The carnival-style event featured performances by the PMS Jazz Big Band, Chorus, and Advanced Drama students. Student artists displayed photography, paintings, and other art. Activities included carnival games, a petting zoo, ice cream chemistry demonstrations, archery demonstrations, photo booths, and hot dogs.

Pelion Library will host Master Gardeners will meet May 4 at 10 am to discuss hummingbird gardens. Learn how to design a backyard habitat that will attract and keep them coming back. The class will also teach how to uncover threats that these birds face and how to counteract them.

May 4 at 10:45 am will be spring garden planting. Families are invited to adopt a square foot plot to plant vegetables or herbs. Participants will also make a Zen Garden to take home. May 7 at noon, Cook the Books will meet and discuss French cooking.
