Former Lexington County Blowfish players continue to pay dividends for the University of South Carolina.

The received solid pitching from the former Blowfish duo of Will Sanders and Brett Kerry to go with 13 hits in a 13-4 win over Missouri Sunday at Founders Park.

Another former Blowfish player from this past summer, Brady Allen, had 3 hits to lead South Carolina, while Josiah Sightler of Swansea High School, Andrew Eyster and Colin Burgess had a pair of hits apiece.

Allen and Sightler scored 3 runs apiece in the win.

Sanders started the game for the Gamecocks and gave up a home run on the first pitch but settled down to allow just 4 hits and 2 runs with 6 strikeouts and no walks. Kerry earned the win out of the bullpen, striking out 8 and allowing 6 hits and 2 runs with no walks in 4 innings of relief.

South Carolina opened its scoring on a 2-run single from David Mendham in the first. The Gamecocks added a pair in the second on Brennan Milone’s first home run of the year.

Milone was a 1st team Coastal Plain League selection and Blowfish co-MVP after leading the team in 6 offensive categories (home runs, hits, doubles, RBI, runs, slugging percentage).

The Gamecocks added 3 runs in the 5th, highlighted by a 2-run Colin Burgess single. South Carolina put up a 5-spot in the 8th as Allen and Sightler had run-scored base hits and Eyster delivered a 2-run home run to right field.

South Carolina improved to 15-2 at Founders Park this season. Kerry improved to 9-1 on the mound and a 2.67 ERA. Up next for the Gamecocks is Charleston Southern at 7 pm Tuesday. The game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
