Gaston man arrested for shooting at Harbison Olive Garden

A suspect has been arrested following a shooting at a restaurant in a popular Lexington County shopping area.

Brandon Benjamin, 31 of Gaston, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to Columbia Police. Benjamin is accused of shooting a female acquaintance’s male friend in the arm in an Olive Garden parking lot in the Harbison area Dec. 23, according to a Dec. 26 Twitter post from the department announcing his arrest.

The Olive Garden, located at in the Harbison Court shopping center at 274 Harbison Blvd., sits just down the street from the Columbiana Centre mall.

According to police, the victim was shot in the arm shortly after 6 p.m., resulting in a non-life-threatening injury. By the time EMS arrived on the scene, the victim had a tourniquet applied.

Police noted that ballistic evidence was found at the scene.

Benjamin’s bond was set at $250,000, with his first appearance date set for Feb. 2, according to court records.
