The Gervais Street Bridge Dinner will return May 2.

West Columbia and Columbia city councils approved its return.

The May 2 event will be the 1st Bridge Dinner presented by newly-formed nonprofit Carolina Together. Carolina Together was founded by Steve Cohen and is run by Executive Director Stephanie Amaker.

Previously Soda City Friends oversaw the dinner for 1,000 diners on the Gervias Street Bridge.

The SC Department of Transportation has appoved use of the whole bridge.

The bridge is closed to traffic all day on the Sunday it is presented to allow time to prepare for the event.

Proceeds from the Bridge Dinner go to local charities. Around $200,000 has been raised in 5 years.

Tables of 8 are $1,000. VIP tables are $1,600 with early 3 pm admission before the 4 pm event.
