Get Ready for the New Year

How was your Christmas?

Ours was wonderful, with family gathered at daughter Sally’s house. There was the usual tradition of wrapped presents under the tree, poinsettias about, and the dinner table dressed for the holiday meal. Not waiting for New Year’s Day, grandson-in-law, Joe Ellis brought his mother’s outstanding collards, prepped and given to her each year by a friend. They were a hit! Empty pot was proof ! With much conversation and catching up, the meal was completed with an array of desserts and coffee. Unusually warm weather prevailed and enabled children to get outside with new bikes and other outdoor toys.

It was truly a day of love, family and celebration. Joy to the world!

Ann Bull reports: “Did anyone else out there get a Christmas present from Elon Musk? Mike and Elizabeth Trenbeath did. Elon Musk gave them a Christmas light show courtesy of their Tesla. They got a message from their car instructing them as to what to do and at their chosen time they initiated the light show. The parked car began to play Christmas music and the car lights came on, the car doors and trunk opened and closed in time with the music while the lights put on a show.

The Lexington Cotillion recently held their 2021 Holiday Ball. The debutantes presented were Miss Elizabeth Luz Culpepper, Miss Aubrey Leigh Ferrell, Miss Kaylie Ann Fringer and Miss Katherine Jean Pitts. The sophomore sons presented included: Mr. Harrison Michael Carter, Joshua Fielding Mackie, Mr. Anderson Gray Summerall and Mr. James Dudley Whitehead IV. The event was held at the Doubletree Inn ballroom and was presided over by Cotillion

President Richard Alan Green.”

Interrupting this holiday as last year was COVID-19 and the contagious Omicron variant. Flights, sports, events and others were affected by this condition that just won’t go away. Everyone is encouraged to help prevent the spread. Get vaccinated! Wear

Get vaccinated! Wear masks and distance as advised. Also, get your Flu shot! As we enter 2022, let’s make it a safer, healthier year!

And speaking of the new year, are you making resolutions? We make them but do we keep them? What are yours? Let’s make a list!

Sports are always a big part of New Year’s Day. Fans either attend or sit eagerly in front of the TV hoping for a win! This year, two of our state schools were involved. Clemson Tigers vs Iowa State and Carolina Gamecocks vs North Carolina.

Happy Birthday: Randy Halfacre, Dale Elliott, Howard Rawl, Todd Shevchick, Wade Chewning and Weston Shealy.
