Announcements

BURNING DEBRIS: Burn permit required for burning debris in unincorporated areas of Lexington County. Call the SC Forestry Commission at 1-800-705-8613.

COVID VACCINES: SC residents 12 or older can schedule an appointment for the Covid-19 vaccine by calling the DHEC Care Line at 1-855-472-3432. You may also get them now at Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, Riley’s Drugs and Medicine Mart, but you need an appointment.

LEXINGTON CO. collection/recycling STATION HOURS: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 7-7 pm; Sundays 3-7 pm; Tuesday and Thursday closed. Closed New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Inclement weather or other emergency situations may result in temporary closings of some or all collection and recycling centers.

FALL PLANT SALE: Oct. 8-10, SC State Farmers Market, 3483 Charleston Hwy., West Co lumbia. Lexington County Master Gardeners will sell plants, some unusal and rare, including ferns, shrubs, natives, perennials and trees. Also, garden supplies, tools, pots and gifts. 8 am-6 pm Friday and Saturday and 10 am-4 pm Sunday.

Gaston Collard & BBQ Festival: Oct. 2, 131 N. Carlisle St., Gaston. Parade starts at 10 am with the festival afterwards. Live band, arts and crafts and fresh cooked BBQ and Collards. Lunch is served 11:30 am until they run out.

STATE FAIR DISCOUNT TICKETS: On sale through Oct. 12, discount admission tickets $10 per person ($15-$20 during the fair) and discount ride vouchers $25 per person ($33 -$38 during the fair).
