GOLF

This is a very special time of year and I enjoy how children act and react during the Christmas season.

The child-like perspective of happiness and cheer seems to have significant influence. Fun and cheer seem airborne.

My wife, Valerie, is such a child at heart and her enthusiasm for Christmas is incredibly contiguous. She invests incredible thought, time, energy and effort in the gifts she buys for others.

She toils over the smallest details. Inspired by my wife, this week’s main theme or the purpose of this weeks article is to pass along some golf gift ideas.

Here are a few “traditional” suggestions:

- Golf balls are always good and you can’t go wrong with a premium(most expensive) or top line brands. Taylor Made, Srixon, Bridgestone. Titleist Pro V1 or X series and Calloway Chrome Soft X are in this premium category.

If guessing, go with Titleist because exchanges or trades are easy with the brand specifics mentioned above.

- Gloves are also good ideas when you know size.

- Tees are inexpensive but can work too. I once got an invite to play a very special golf course because I sent a client some “specialty tees” that included shipping cost that was below $5.

- Golf clubs can be a great idea if specifics are known including all details. Random golf club purchases based on vague details are not suggested. These suggestions apply for all golfers girls or guys.

- Apparel can be good if you are tech savvy and can navigate websites. So far, I don’t have great personal feedback from “on-line” shopping. Unfortunately, local golf fashion options are not known by this author, so please update me if there are options available.

One “contemporary” gift idea that is brand new, and is being introduced first to our local Midlands market is a new GolFitness product.

Swing Balance is a technology that allows the golfer to make a solid connection to his or her performance capacity or talent through a patented rubber thermal composite material, combined with educational content. It’s called impact conditioning.

The “Pattern Support Tools “ with impact conditioning education make golf easier by making learning faster. Learning is also more convenient because much of the training can take place at home, while fitting into complex schedules.

The Swing Balance product line which includes sport and GolFitness can be previewed at Koosa Golf in Lexington and northeast Columbia. Brad Frick, Jarred Beard, Chase Butler and John Brock are the first Certified Impact Conditioning Coaches in this area.

Beyond making golf easier, gains do not require fatigue or pain.

•The ICRC “Winter Tour” is underway and this 27 year old programs headlining feature is children and parents embarking on a recreational golf journey together. Brand new to college prep ages 7-18 are invited to participate. The developmental emphasis is on the conceptual and strategical aspects of golf while playing. It’s quite unique in comparison to

Traditional learning options but games are more fun when learning takes place on the actual playing field.

This year, there are 15 courses in support of this Sunday afternoon 9-hole program that tees off at 3 pm. Camden Country Club, Charwood Country Club, Cobblestone Park Golf Club, Columbia Country Club, Fort Jackson Golf Club, Hidden Valley Golf Club, Indian River Golf Club, Country Club of Lexington, LinRick Golf Club, Mid Carolina Club, Country Club of New-berry, The Spur at North-woods, Oak Hills Golf Club, Ponderosa Country Club and Timberlake Plantation.
