Gray Collegiate will open a new satellite campus in Irmo in August 2025, serving around 600 students in sixth through 10th grade to start. The campus, located at 617 Koon Rd., will serve as an extension of Gray Collegiate’s West Columbia campus.

The new campus will serve sixth through 10th grade to start, but will eventually serve students in sixth through 12^th grade.

Each campus will offer alternate courses, and students are welcome to take classes at both locations if scheduling and transportation allow.

The announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday, Jan. 23. Representatives from the Town of Irmo, the South Carolina Department of Education, Rep. Joe Wilson’s office, Sen. Tim Scott’s office, as well as students, parents and staff were present.

“At GCA, we believe that an excellent education has the power to change lives, and we have witnessed its impact firsthand through the success of our graduates,” Gray Collegiate Assistant Principal Casey Hallman said in the press release. “It’s an honor to extend this opportunity to more students across the Midlands, equipping them with the skills and confidence they need to excel in college and beyond."

This new campus will have three permanent modulars, along with a state-of-art “airnasium” and weight room. Athletic practices and events will remain at the West Columbia campus, with shuttles running between the two locations.

Gray Collegiate will hold an information session about the new campus at the Northwest Family YMCA, located at 1501 Kennerly Rd. in Irmo. Sessions will be held on Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 13, March 27 and April 10, all at 12:30 p.m.
