County and state health officials are being helped by a global social media company.

Starting this week, Lexington County Facebook users will see an alert in their news feed that they are eligible to be vaccinated.

It will alert you to the state’s covid vaccine site to book an appointment.

Facebook plans to help 50 million people get vaccinated.

The company has removed 16 millions of pieces of covid misinformation to help build trust in the vaccines.

Facebook has also:

• Provided millions of dolars to small businesses.

• Created the Coronavirus Information Center and the Vaccine Finder to supplement the DHEC’s vaccination appointment system.

• Held live sessions with health experts.

All South Carolinians age 16 and older can now get the covid-19 vaccine.
