The schedules are out for two of three Christmas basketball tournaments taking place in Chronicle Country.

The second-annual Christmas Classic takes place Dec. 17-20 at Lexington High School. It will feature 24 girls basketball teams broken up into three divisions: gold, silver and junior varsity.

As that tournament ends, the Cayce Roundball Classic will get underway at Brookland-Cayce High School. A total of 16 boys basketball teams, including defending Class 2A champion Gray Collegiate and Dutch Fork, will take part in the four-day event starting Dec. 20.

The host team Bearcats will face Camden at 5:30 p.m. in a Showcase game. 

The holiday hoops season closes out with the Chick-Fil-A Classic Dec. 27-30. For the second straight year, the tournament will be played at River Bluff High School and the Carolinas Challenge at Lexington High School.

For the first time, a girls basketball contest will take place. It’s a Showcase contest between last year’s Class 3A finalists W.J. Keenan with University of South Carolina signee guard Milaysia Fulwiley and Camden with All-State forward Joyce Edwards.

All general admission tickets (ages six and up) are $15 when purchased online at www.chick-fil-aclassic.com. Fans may also purchase tickets for the event at the gym for $20 (cash only).

Proceeds from the tournament will once again benefit the Greater Columbia Educational Advancement Foundation (GCEAF) in its efforts to raise educational scholarships for deserving students who live within the Greater Columbia area. The total amount raised over the last 17 years is now $220,000.
