The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s help in finding a man accused of attempting to sexually assault a female victim in a Chapin park.

According to the department’s posts on social media, the victim said she was exercising when a shirtless white man in his 20s wearing khaki cargo shorts grabbed her in Crooked Creek Park and then tried to pull her into the woods.

The department issued a sketch of the suspect based on the victim’s description and asks that anyone with a tip as to the man’s identity reach out via the Midlands Crimestoppers app or by calling (803)-785-8230 (ask for Investigator Cobb).

Crooked Creek Park is located about two miles south of downtown Chapin, outside the town limits, backing up to its namesake creek near Chapin Intermediate School.
