Irmo church to offer ‘Run for God’ program

Riverland Hills Baptist Church is offering a 12 week “learn to run” program for the community.

The “Run for God” program combines a weekly Bible study and group training sessions to allow participants to prepare to run or walk the Ring the Bell 5K on May 3 at Saluda Shoals Park.

The program meets every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. starting Feb. 9 at the church, which is located at 201 Lake Murray Blvd. It is targeted for beginners.

“Since we first started this program in 2011, we’ve introduced hundreds of people to the

sport of running,” Run for God coordinator Jeanna Moffett said in the press release. “This recreation ministry can improve both the spiritual and physical aspect of people’s lives and can make a tremendous difference in their overall health and well-being.”

All adults and children in 7th grade or above (with a parent) can sign up by Feb. 2 by visiting www.RiverlandHills.org/RecLife. The fee is $45 and includes two race shirts and entry into the Ring the Bell 5K.
