This little Christmas season story should warm your heart.
A Ginch hit Fusco’s Market at 2900 Dreher Shoals Road in Irmo.
What he (or she) stole were books.
Yes. Books.
“We came in last Tuesday, and there were no books,” Katie, a Fusco’s employee, told WIS-TV.
“The Grinch came and took them.”
But the free community library outside the restaurant was only temporarily bare.
Fusco’s employees appealed on social media for books to replenish their little library.
“We tried to have a positive attitude about it,” another employee, Sadie, said.
“In the Facebook post, we said, ‘hopefully it was someone that needed it more than we did.’”
Like the good folks in Dr. Seuss’s Who-ville, Irmo residents rallied.
“Now we have books inside overflowing ready to be stocked again,” Katie said.
Fusco’s employees say their customers have supported them in a tough year.
They call this another reminder that a year of kindness isn’t over yet.
“It’s been great to see our community come together,” Sadie said.
“Even if it’s something so simple and small, it’s a great way to show that there’s still joy and kindness.”
