It’s family time for all of us

Congratulations to all new homeschooling moms and dads. You have survived another week.

After your children have completed their school work, take time and build good memories with them. Turn off the TV and play a game, go outside, breathe some fresh air. This is also a time to teach kids “adult” skills, like cleaning, folding clothes, and vacuuming.

OUR LEXINGTON COUNTY Library Director Kelly Poole says it is offering help for students and parents. Their website lexcolibrary.com has options to download books, movies, music and more in the online resources section.

SCDISCUS IS OFFERING free access to Tutor.com and TeenBook Cloud and the other databases for your classwork needs. Go to scdiscus.org/discus-resources, use discus2020 for the username, and the password is, learn1!

GO TO THE Learning Express in the DISCUS database for free practice tests for the SAT and ACT, as well as AP practice tests. Lessons on South Carolina history are also on the site.

The DISCUS site is also a Career Transitions free assessment quiz.

IRMO HAS ADOPTED Governor Henry McMaster’s executive order to temporarily close “non-essential” and close contact businesses. Irmo’s town hall meetings will be via Zoom teleconferencing.

WELCOME TO THE Spring season! Resurrection Sunday is on April 12, and Passover begins on April 8. Because of the corona virus and not being able to gather for worship, these celebrations are going to hold special memories for us this year.

I think this is an excellent time for families to bond tighter together, read our bibles, and get back basics of life. We now have an extra appreciation for our health care workers, first responders, teachers, and those working long hours at essential businesses. It would be good to say extra prayers for them and let them know how much their sacrifices are appreciated.
