Joe Taylor of Southland Capital partners has been presented with the Quarterly Appearance Award by the West Columbia Beautification Foundation.
At the WCBF meeting, board members discussed the annual Tribute to Trees. The event is scheduled for Sept. 10, 5:30-7:30 pm, at West Columbia City Hall, 200 N. 12th Street.
The foundation is also selling a limited number of commemorative bricks to be placed in the West Columbia All-Inclusive Enabling Park. Bricks will be engraved with your message. Mini-bricks with the same message make a great gift.
Piecewise Coffee Company was surrounded by friends, local residents and community leaders when it officially opened with a ribbon-cutting Aug. 5. It’s at 2001 State Street, Cayce. Attending were Cayce Mayor Elise Par-tin, Mayor pro tem Tara Almond, Cayce-West Columbia Chamber Executive Director Richard Skipper and members of the Cayce City Council.
West Columbia Mayor Bobby Horton and West Columbia City Council presented the city’s Water and Sewer Utilities Employees with a resolution recognizing them for their exemplary service and dedication. Mayor pro tem Tem Miles, made the presentation at Tuesday’s council meeting.
Progress is being made on one of West Columbia’s newest parks. The playground equipment for the Enabling Park has been delivered. Norfolk Street between Oliver and Hudson was blocked off for the delivery. It’s only a matter of time before the one-of-a-kind park is open, along with the Interactive Art Park on Meeting Street.
