Pelion Library will hold an Opioid Abuse Prevention session January 30 at 6 pm. The presentation focuses on educating communities about opioids, providing local opioid statistics and sharing action items for how communities can get involved to help stop the opioid epidemic. The event is for ages 13 and up. Call 803-785-3272 for information.

Cook the Book at the Library will feature heart healthy Mediterranean cooking. It meets February 4 at noon. Cook the Book meets every other month. A theme or cookbook is chosen and the participants gather to eat and discuss the cookbooks over a potluck lunch. This event is for ages 18 and up.

Tween Extreme meets February 4 at 3:30 to discover how watercolors walk from jar to jar. Then the watercolors and yarn are used to create unique works of art. This event is for grades 4-7. Technology training is February 5 at 10:30 am for ages 18 and up. Registration is required. Preschool story-time is February 5 at 11 am for ages birth to 5 years.

Census 2020 job recruitment session will be held February 6, 3 to 6 pm. Meet with a Census 2020 employment recruiter. Jobs include flexible hours, paid training, and weekly paychecks. This event is for ages 18 and up.

February is Heart Healthy Month. A nutritionist will be at the library presenting a program on healthy food options for better heart health. This is for ages 18 and up.

Pelion Senior Center will have its monthly birthday party January 31. Happy birthday to all the members of the center.

Pelion High has reserved both gyms for volleyball on February 1 from 7 am until 9 pm. Varsity wrestling is at Gilbert at 10 am for the region duals. JV basketball plays at Edisto on February 3 at 6 pm. February 4 varsity basketball plays Edisto at home at 6 pm. Varsity wrestling region individual tourney is at Swansea February 4 at 6 pm.

Pelion High Winter sports pep rally will be on February 7 at 11:15 am.
