Lexington County School District Two, in conjunction with the Greater CWC Chamber and Visitors Center, Cypress Real Estate Partners and the City of Cayce, has dedicated Hattie’s Crossing, a new residential area.
The dedication took place on Nov. 18 and celebrated the redesign of the Cayce Grammar School into a new residential infill neighborhood. The property was named after Cayce educator Hattie Derrenbacher.
Cayce Interim City Manager Jim Crosland said this development is part of the city’s master plan.
“Infill development is part of our comprehensive plan, and this is a perfect opportunity for partnerships that transform a blighted property into a vibrant housing opportunity,” Crosland said in a press release.
Cypress Real Estate Partners employee Mark James said the project both honors the legacy of the grammar school and works to create a new area to grow along with Cayce’s expansion.
“We have worked hard with the City of Cayce to honor the legacy of this neighborhood school and bring a new and attractive community to Cayce. These single-family homes will blend attractive and traditional architecture with the benefits of new construction. We look forward to getting started and appreciate the support of the city and the neighborhood,” James said in a press release.
