Lexington 2 opens limited school choice registration

Posted

Lexington County School District Two has opened registration for its limited school choice for the 2025-26 school year. This program allows students to attend schools outside their designated attendance area to meet specific needs.

Families can enroll students in kindergarten (those who are five years old) through 12th grade. This is not an option for 3k (three-year-old kindergarteners) and 4k (four-year-old kindergarteners).

Students who will be returning to the same school for the 2025-26 school year do not need to submit an application. Students moving from elementary school to middle school or middle school to high school must submit a new application.

Submitting an application for limited school choice does not guarantee placement. Approval is required for students to change schools.

Approved reasons for requesting school choice are prioritized by the district, including family or student circumstances and specific needs.

Parents and guardians should note that if approved, they are responsible for transporting children to and from school, as no bus transportation is provided.

Applications submitted must include specific documents such as medical needs, childcare provisions, parent's work location, daycare location and more. The application can be found here, https://4.files.edl.io/b4a2/01/13/25/173825-38242b03-2c90-49b2-bdf9-8bb3d5d6f1fe.pdf.

The application deadline is March 15. Parents will be notified of their application status in early May.
