The Lexington Medical Center achieved Magnet with Distinction, showcasing its commitment to teamwork, exceptional patient care and professionalism.

This recognition is given to health care organizations and professionals when they surpass the rigorous nursing standards.

“Achieving Magnet with Distinction recognizes the exemplary care that our nurses provide to our friends, families and neighbors every day. This honor places Lexington Medical Center among the highest performing Magnet organizations in the world,” said Tod Augsburger, president and CEO at Lexington Medical Center, in the press release. “Currently, only 13 hospitals in the U.S. have achieved this prestigious recognition, and we’re proud to be the first and only hospital in South Carolina to receive it.”

The Magnet furthermore provides benefits to health care organizations such as higher patient satisfaction, higher job satisfaction among nurses, lower nurse reports of intentions to leave their positions and a lower risk of 30-day mortality.

Through this model, staff gain new knowledge and skills, empowering them to continue to provide exceptional patient care.

“Lexington Medical Center is proud to achieve Magnet with Distinction recognition, and it shows our culture of excellence that we serve our community with daily,” Melissa Taylor, Lexington Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer, said in the press release. “This status shows Lexington Medical Center’s commitment to excellent quality outcomes, an outstanding nursing staff, and our mission to provide the Midlands with quality health services that meet the needs of our communities.”
