Lexington Medical Center Grows Orthopaedic Practice

Posted

Lexington Medical Center is consolidating five local orthopaedic locations into one practice.

The hospital announced July 18 the merger of its own Lexington Orthopedics with Southeastern Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, a private practice which had previously operated locations in West Columbia, Chapin and Northeast Columbia as part of theLexington Medical Center Network of Care.

“The board-certified physicians, advanced practice providers and highly skilled staff at Lexington Orthopaedics and Southeastern Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine are joining together to form a new practice called Lexington Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine,” a news release states.

The new practice adds Southeastern’s three locations to Lexington Orthopaedics’ two existent locations in Irmo and Lexington, extending its reach to five locations, including one in Richland County, “to better serve patients throughout the Midlands,” the release says.

“The highly specialized team of 12 physicians and five advanced practice providers offers comprehensive orthopaedic and sports medicine services to patients, providing exceptional treatment plans and consultation,” the release states. “The practice will add two additional physicians this summer.

“Services include arthritis and joint pain management, diagnostic imaging, fracture care, physical rehabilitation and occupational therapy, surgery, traumatology and joint injections.”

The announcement comes on the heels of some other big ones for the hospital.

July previously brought news of a partnership with the University of South Carolina to build a new $20 million nursing training center and expand  the hospital’s graduate medical education affiliation with the school. That reveal was followed a few days later by the announcement of a partnership with MUSC Health on a survey to assess the healthcare priorities of Midlands residents.
