Numerous students from the Lexington-Richland School District Five showcased their talents at the South Carolina State Fair Art Competition.
Among the award winners were Katherine Ju (Chapin Intermediate), Mia Tan (Lake Murray Elementary), Parker Fortanbary (Piney Woods Elementary), Ruskin Chen (Chapin Elementary), Amelia Croft (River Springs Elementary), Tori Wilson (H.E Corley Elementary), Jason Mu (Lake Murray Elementary), Rose Ras (H.E Corley Elementary), Cynthia Chen (Chapin Intermediate), Siri Hu (Chapin Intermediate), Ashley Wang (Chapin Intermediate), Emily Lin (Chapin Intermediate), Eleanor Croft (Dutch Fork Middle), Connor Gayle (Dutch Fork Middle), Sophia Easterling (Chapin Middle), Claire Ju (Spring Hill High), Dylan Walker (Chapin High), Amelia Leon (Chapin High School), McKinley Kielburger (Chapin High) and Contessa Minico (Chapin High).
To participate, all individuals needed to be residents of South Carolina and enrolled in a public, private or home school from kindergarten through 12th grade. “We have so many talented young people living in our community,” said School District Five Coordinator of Athletics, Physical Education, & Arts Steven Puckett in the press release. “It excites me to see them be recognized as creative artists. I am proud of their accomplishments and initiative to be involved with the Arts in our schools and the community.”
