Lexington Sheriff’s Department Seeks Tips After Thanksgiving Weekend Homicide

Posted

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is seeking tips after a homicide on the morning of Nov. 27.

A release from the department states that Jimmy Ferney Johnson Jr., 46, died after being shot outside a home on Mac Circle in Lexington, citing Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted in the release, explaining a camper near the home caught fire at about the same time the shooting occurred.

“Detectives from our major crimes unit responded to the scene this morning and interviewed neighbors in an effort to find out what happened,” Koon is quoted. “Crime scene investigators processed the scene to collect potential evidence. They also took numerous photographs of the scene and surrounding area.”

“We don’t have much to go on in terms of a person of interest,” the sheriff is further quoted. “There is some ongoing work related to items recovered from the scene that might help us; however, tips from the community would be most helpful to us at this point in the case.”

The department is accepting anonymous tips via Crimestoppers at 888-274-6372 or on the Crimestoppers app.
