Lexington United Methodist Church plans a night of music and dance to support Mission Lexington.

The Big Band Dance will be 6:30-9:30 pm Oct. 25 in the church’s Wesley Hall.

Lexington UMC to hold big band dance

Proceeds to support those helped by Mission Lexington

Lexington United Methodist Church plans a night of music and dance to support Mission Lexington.

The Big Band Dance will be 6:30-9:30 pm Oct. 25 in the church’s Wesley Hall.

$10 tickets are available at https://missionlexingtonsc.org/ .

The dance will include performances from the Charlie Gatch Big Band, The Swing Set Band, and demonstrations of ballroom and shag by local dancer Tracy Steele and his team.

The dress code is dressy casual.

Desserts and refreshments will be available for sale.

Mission Lexington Executive Director Robin Bowers said, “All proceeds will impact the basic needs of some of our Lexington neighbors who are in crisis.”

Organized in the 1950s, the Charlie Gatch Big Band is composed of 16 musicians and 2 singers led by LUMC member and retired principal of Lexington Middle School, Charles Gatch.

They will perform music from the ’40s and ’50s big band era, favorites from the ’60s-’80s, and classic beach music

The 9-member Swing Set emphasizes popular music and rock ‘n’ roll.

Tracy Steele has been a professional ballroom dance instructor for 20 years.
