Christmas is about spending time with family and friends. It’s about creating happy memories that will last a lifetime. Wayne and I send our blessings to you and your families for a Merry Christmas.

We talked with some folks in the community about their plans for Christmas. Here are their responses.

Patsy Cox is spending Christmas with her son Mike Cox, and his wife Sharon, who live in Irmo. She said they always have a large delicious meal on Christmas Day.

Christine Smith said she will eat dinner with her daughter Louise Stevens on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day she will be with her son Eugene Smith and his wife Nicki, “My son always has a large meal and I am looking forward to seeing my grandchildren,” she said.

Frances Adams has 6 children and 17 grandchildren. She said on Christmas Day she will go to church, then eat dinner with her family.

Martha Jones loves spending Christmas with her children and grandchildren. Martha will help her daughter Tammy Shealy fix dinner at her home. Her other daughter, Judy Busbee and son Kenny and his wife Sindey Roland, will come with their children and bring several dishes. She said the grandchildren will open their gifts after dinner. She said the adults exchange Christmas gifts, also.

Jo DeFloria will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to spend Christmas with her son Robert De-Floria and her grandson. She is also looking forward to the meal her son will prepare.

Alice Taylor will spend Christmas wither daughter, Debra Shealy and her family. They will not open presents until she gets there. Alice has 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her son-in-law Donnie always prepares an early breakfast on Christmas with yellow grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, and ham.

Coleen Derrick’s children and grandchildren are all married, so she tries to go to as many of their homes on Christmas Day as possible. She said she enjoys Christmas Day because she gets to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delores Dunbar always spends Christmas Eve night at her daughter Missy and husband Greg Boone’s home. She stays with them throughout Christmas Day. She said she is looking forward to seeing her granddaughter Grace, who will be home from college. She will spend Christmas Eve morning visiting her son Keith and his wife Heather, and later that morning will visit her daughter Crystal and her husband Kelly Main and her grandson Cameron.
