Forts Pond Elementary School held Awards Day for K-2 and grades 3-4 May 29 and

30. Fifth grade graduation was held June 4.

Staff members were treated to a cookout June 4. The end of the year luncheon June 5 was sponsored in part by the PTO.

FPES has three employees retiring on June 5; Janet Callahan, Jimmie Smith, and Judy Moore.

Congratulations to Pelion High students who received scholarships. The Lisa Rucker Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Dalton Evan Bird, Natalia Pazzis Campbell, Leia Noel Cogdill, Elizabeth Junell Cooper, Jalen Terrell Davis, Caitlin Briana Jeffcoat, Tayler Brianna Murray, Jaidon Bailey Shumpert, and Austin Brooks Shumpert.

The Clemson Palmetto Pact Scholarships were awarded to Charlie Barrett Allemond, Taylor Green Johnson, Lauren Colette Duenke, and Makenzie Louise Renew. Federal Grant scholarships were awarded to Charlie Barrett Allemond, Travon Amaad Alston, Caroline Faye Barnes, Rhegan Sierra Durden, Adam Taylor Eubanks, Monea Irene-Allen Goodson, Taylor Green Johnson, Cheryl Lynn LaDue, Gabriel Michael Locklear, Tayler Brianna Murray, George Walker Karl Storm, and Dylan Jeffery Williamson.

SC Tuition Grants were awarded to Raynie Sky Arender, Caroline Faye Barnes, Andrew David Boozer, Lauren Colette Duenke, Rhegan Sierra Durden, Monea Irene-Allen Goodson, Cheryl Lynn LaDue, Jaidon Bailey Shumpert, McKenna Jade Smith, and Dylan Jeffery Williamson. The Pelion Peanut Party Scholarships were awarded to Jacob Dean O’Malley and Dalton Evan Bird.

Pelion Library hosts technology training June 19 at 10:30 am. Registration is required. Preschool story time is June 19 at 11 am for ages 1-5 years. Galactic Bookworms meets June 14 at 10:30 am for grades K-5. Larry the Duck and Tim Sonefelt will tell cosmic antics of space cadets with hilarious puppetry. Spine Crackers Book Club meets June 19 at 3 pm. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy meets June 20 at 6 pm for ages 18 and up. If you have no idea who Arthur Dent is, it doesn’t matter; bring a towel and don’t panic.

The Pelion Senior Center will hold a Father’s Day celebration June 14.
