Man Dead in Irmo After Shooting in Subdivision

A man was found dead after a July 10 shooting in a local subdivision, according to the Irmo Police Department.

“Officers responded to a home in the New Friarsgate Subdivision around 1:30 a.m. for a gunshot wound,” the department posted to Facebook. “Officers arrived on scene and found one person with a gunshot wound to the chest. Lifesaving measures were performed but the person did not survive.”

The department said this is an isolated incident and that no arrests have been made. The investigation into the shooting continues, with Irmo Police saying they are working with the Richland County Coroner’s Office and the state Law Enforcement Division.
