Lexington County authorities report that a man shot and killed his wife and her daughter Jan. 29 in Red Bank before taking his own life.

According to a release from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting occurred during the afternoon at the family’s home on Bliss Lane in the Bluefield West subdivision.

“The husband was transported to a local hospital for his injuries,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted. “There was also a minor in the house who is unharmed.”

According to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, William Peter Busick, 55 of Lexington, shot his wife, Chastity Lynne Busick, 48, and his step-daughter, Jasmine Alyse Bailey, 23, during the incident that occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

William Busick sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, the post details, and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

The sheriff’s department release states that this is believed to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
